People at risk of poverty also live in Donaustadt, for whom it is a great challenge to finance their everyday lives. Everyday purchases must be carefully considered, especially for families with children. In order to make everyday life easier for them and to improve their living conditions immediately, Vienna's largest shopping center and the Samariterbund have joined forces and opened the first social market in a shopping center.
The store has a sales area of around 100 square meters and is now offering a wide range of supermarket assortment, starting with fresh food and canned food right through to hygiene items. The social market is supplied by a large number of shops of Westfield Donau Zentrum. The prices for these products in the social market are well below those of the discount trade.

Purchasing authorization can be requested in advance from Sozialmarkt@samariterwien.at or requested in person in the market at Wagramer Straße 94, Entrance Lampaweg (1220 Vienna), between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Current registration forms, proof of income and photo ID are required to issue a shopping pass.
