Pumpkin Smash

Smash don't trash at the Pumpkin Smash with SCARCE. Join us out in the E lot near Pottery Barn and smash your pumpkin to be composted. Pumpkin spice latte's will be provided by Nordstrom e-Bar, first come first served, while supplies last to those that participate.

Composting is nature’s way of recycling with many benefits:

• Avoids landfill greenhouse gas emissions from decomposing organics (currently, landfills are the 3rd largest producers of methane in the U.S.!)
• Produces a useful, nutrient-dense soil amendment
• Pumpkins are 90% water which is great for our soil, not so good in our landfills

Since 2014 the Pumpkin Smash has…

• Composted over 1253.6 tons of pumpkins
• Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 926.9 tons of CO2e
• Diverted 269,114.6 gallons of water from landfills

*Registration is not required but suggested REGISTER HERE

*Pumpkins cannot have paint or decorations adhered to them. A de-crafting table will be set up for those that need to un-craft their pumpkin.
