Vytal

Vytal is our partner for reusable systems at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier. Whether coffee cups, bowls or pizza boxes: you can borrow and return the practical reusable containers for food and drinks from the young Cologne-based company in our restaurants - completely free of charge or deposit-free. This makes snacking "to go" without any packaging waste a reality. Because more and more people want ecologically sensitive solutions when they order food or drinks outside the home.

To avoid disposable packaging, Vytal has therefore developed robust and stylish reusable containers made from recyclable plastic. These are available from countless caterers, retailers and delivery services - including us at Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier.

Using Vytal is very simple:

  • Download the free Vytal app from the App or Google Play store.
  • Ask for Vytal at your favourite restaurant and order your takeaway as a reusable.
  • Then all you have to do is scan the QR code on your Vytal container - and there's nothing to stop you taking a snack break on the banks of the Elbe or in the Speicherstadt historical warehouse district.
  • Once you have scanned the code, you can use Vytal free of charge for 14 days. After two weeks you should return the containers cleaned. Depending on the type of bin, you will only be charged if you do not return it.

Within the Vytal app, you can see at any time how much disposable packaging you have already replaced with Vytals.

By the way: Vytal was awarded the Blue Angel by the Federal Ministry for the Environment in 2021. The official seal of the German government recognises products and services that are particularly environmentally friendly and sustainable.

About Vytal:

Founded to make a difference: Vytal has set itself the goal of becoming the world's leading technology platform for the circular economy and reusable packaging. Vytals replace single-use packaging and make a sustainable, future-orientated lifestyle possible for everyone. Over 175,000 tonnes of waste are caused by disposable tableware in Germany every year. Vytal has already replaced over 8 million items of disposable packaging (as of January 2024).

With its deposit-free and digital reusable solution, Vytal brings restaurateurs, retailers, delivery services and other cooperation partners together with people who want to enjoy food and drinks without unnecessary disposable packaging. The company was named one of the top 50 start-ups in 2022 and 2023 by Jung von Matt. Today, around 60 employees work for Vytal across Europe.
