HOW TO BRING PANTONE'S PEACH FUZZ INTO YOUR HOME
Jessica Harris
Every year interior fanatics look forward to the release of Pantone's colour of the year. we've had Viva Magenta, Very Peri and Illuminating but 2024 brings a fruitier hue into our homes – Peach Fuzz. According to Pantone, this is a “velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.”
The colour is just one of the company's 20,000 in their library and possesses a warm and welcoming tone synonymous with a Mediterranean summer. Pantone’s annual COTY unveiling sets the tone for interior and fashion trends and is often chosen as a reflection of the mood of the time and predicts the mood of the year to come. At a time when the world faces great uncertainty and the future can look bleak, Peach Fuzz is a hue of hope, warmth and comfort when we need it the most.
Admittedly not an easy shade to incorporate into the home, it can, however, inject a sunny disposition into a space regardless of your colour preference. If a wall colour or furniture piece is a commitment too far, start by introducing smaller accents into your home such as a candle, cushion or terracotta vase that can be a more subtle nod to the trend. As a slightly bolder form of neutral, peach tones work well with almost every other colour – darker navy and brown shades work beautifully in contrast whereas greens, blues and clashing pinks give a fun and playful result. At Westfield London's Home Quarter our stockists are full of Pantone-inspired buys to bring the colour of the year into your favourite room. In the meantime, here are so top tips to get started:
START SMALL
If the thought of a peach sofa leaves you in a cold sweat, start by introducing smaller accessories such as candles, vases, terracotta jugs and mirrors into a room. Not only does it draw the eye, it can add a layer of colour without committing to more permanent options.
TREAT IT LIKE A NEUTRAL
While it's bold in design, peach can actually be used as a neutral as it has both warm and cool tones within it. This means that it can be teamed with other earthy colours such as brown, beige, dark green and navy blues as well as brighter shades.
GO BOLD
For those who relish in a little colour, go all in with a geometric peach wallpaper, accent wall or scalloped bed frame. Team it with clashing pinks, brighter oranges or electric blues to make a statement that is worthy of a Pinterest moodboard.
