Whether donations in kind or food collection campaigns, Westfield Shopping City Süd and Caritas are constantly organising successful aid campaigns to help people who are in need of help.
The idea is simple: many people have clothes in their wardrobes that no longer fit or that they simply no longer like. The ‘Stoffwechsel’ campaign was launched to prevent these clothes from ending up unused in the rubbish bin. The aim of the campaign is to reuse clothes in the interests of sustainability. As a small thank-you, for at least 5 kilos of old clothing you receive a Westfield voucher card worth 5 euros directly on site, which can then be redeemed in over 450 shops and restaurants. The last time the campaign took place was in March 2022.
In the run-up to Christmas, the ‘Caritas Shop with Goat’ sells products with added social value: here you can buy meaningful gifts that make both the recipient happy and the people who receive concrete help in the form of a donation. There are also goats for sale, which are not to be found in Shopping City Süd, but can be purchased in the form of a proxy voucher for a family. The purchase of such a voucher provides a woman in one of the poorest countries in the world with a goat. This enables the woman and her family to earn a small income and take a first step towards self-determination.
In order to help refugees from Ukraine quickly and directly, we launched a donation-in-kind aid campaign together with Caritas in March 2022. Visitors: inside Westfield Shopping City Süd have the opportunity to hand in donations in kind directly at the centre receptions. The donations are then collected by Caritas and taken to the distribution centres.
