Throughout the design process for the New UTC, creating pedestrian-friendly streetscapes and a walkable community are of paramount importance. Integrating exceptional design and functionality, and creating inviting places to live, work and enjoy life are high priorities. Some specific examples include:
• Improving the entire sidewalk perimeter surrounding UTC (over one mile)
• Providing landscaped barriers between the sidewalk and street in many areas
• Improved accessibility from existing pedestrian bridges
• Retrofitting the Genesee pedestrian bridge
• Enhancing Torrey Trail with new landscaping, benches, picnic tables and lighting to become an active and safe space for the community
