Sustainability is key...
Commitment to the environment is a key concern for Westfield. Some of the innovative sustainable practices adopted for Westfield London include:
- Glazed roof design which will provide excellent natural lighting;
- Acquisition of timber from auditable sustainable sources, as well as use of 50% recycled material where appropriate;
- Rainwater harvesting;
- Facilities for waste separation and recycling;
- A nature reserve;
- Provision of pedestrian and cycle routes, with 570 cycle bays in total; and
- Solar power to provide over 20% of the energy required to power the new White City bus station.
