Development, Design and Construction

The Development division is where it all begins for Westfield shopping centres.

It assesses and acquires potential properties, as well as identifying and maximising the opportunities for Westfield and its joint venture partners.

Development also protects assets by reviewing market competition and determining which centres need to be redeveloped. Development’s other key roles include obtaining development approval from local authorities and controlling the financial aspects of development projects to deliver maximum yield.  

Design and Construction works with Development to bring Westfield shopping centres to life. This division collaboratively designs centres and stores to create award-winning retail experiences.

Design is responsible for designing and documenting all future development projects for Westfield, as well as the redevelopments which are constantly taking place.

The Construction division builds the centres Design has documented. Construction has a broad scope of work that includes cost estimation, execution of the construction works, project programming and opening the shops. Construction is also partially responsible for maintaining existing assets and providing ongoing support to centre management.
